Testimonials: Cathy's Story

I'm Cathy, aged 39. I was overweight as a child and diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic in my early teens. I was constantly trying new diets with no success, but then in 2003 after two years of waiting for NHS funding for a banding operation, I learned about the possibility of travelling to Lyon for private treatment.

I met Sharon in Sidmouth which is about six miles from where I live. We had a long discussion about the procedure and changes that were to come. I saved about £6000 by having the operation abroad and the hospital standards of care and cleanliness were far superior to treatment I had in the UK.

Since December 2003 I have lost 10 stones and still losing. I know there is a limit to the amount of food I can eat - I try to eat more healthily and certainly feel the benefit. I will always be grateful to Sharon and Dr Frering for helping me to change my life.
