Men and women are different and male obesity is very different from female obesity.
Men don’t usually talk 24/7 about diets, clothes or their weight, to their friends or in changing rooms. Usually they don’t want to be models they simply want to be able to have energy, health and ‘look good’ when the need arises!
Often the realisation that they are too fat simply creeps up on a man as their belt hangs under their belly and shoe laces become a problem to tie. One day able to run after the ball and then the realisation you are too big to take your shirt off let alone play sport or go swimming.
Being morbidly obese is recognised to shorten your expected life term
If you are morbidly obese and over 50yrs of age your weight impacts on the amount of sick leave. Sick days rise above those who are not obese
Joints – Knees become painful, less mobile and eventually difficulty in standing and walking. Knee replacement surgery is increasing. It is attributed to the impact of long term obesesity on the joints.
Type 2 diabetes – Obesity is recognised to be the most common cause of type 2 diabetes. Raised blood sugars affects functionality of the body – including sexual function. If your blood sugars rise other parts may not!
Heart – your heart is a muscle and needs exercise as other muscles. If you are too big to move all the muscles in your body may become weakened. The less you do the less able you are to do it.
